Beach Gamelan
7:30pm, Drumbeg Park
There is a reason it's called Drumbeg: Come listen to the sounds that a sandstone beach can make with driftwood, rocks, water, wind, and a number of simple, home-built devices (including thoobs and ploppers, puddlepaddles and at least one pheep). You’ll hear an "elemental" percussion orchestra that plays some real rock music. It's time to hit the beach!
Please register if you would like to be part of the workshop (which starts at 6:30pm) Otherwise, join us at 7:30pm to listen and enjoy.
An Avian Apparition
8:30pm, Degnen Bay
Degnen Bay - an enviro-acoustic wonderland in true surround sound - is also home to an incredible variety of birds. An Avian Apparition is a performance piece conceived by Dinah D and Deborah Dallyn (both residents of Degnen Bay) specifically for the bay. The piece has two components: the launch of a hundred lantern replicas of local birds into the bay; and birdsong and other “found” sounds from around the bay performed by host of humans.
Please note: performers for this event are part of the Bird Sound and Lantern Making workshops. This event is free to pass holders, and donations are happily accepted.
An Après-Avian Soiree
9:30pm, Net Loft, 1960 Murray Road, Degnen Bay
